One listen to Eden’s debut EP Crying Birds tells us we are listening to an old soul.
Eden Roberts' songs are driven by uplifting melodies, delivered with passion and conviction by a glittery voice, at times possessing a raw bluesy feel. The acoustic guitar is a constant in Eden’s songs – maintaining her intimate folk singer/songwriter style when other elements such as electronic drums, synth, and electric guitar are added.
On a track such as Angels, shiny electric guitar, upbeat percussion and layered vocal harmonies dance around the main focal point, Eden’s extraordinary voice – heady at times, plaintive at others, soulful always. This is a hit single waiting to happen, offering hints of Edie Brickell, Florence and Stevie Nicks.
“As my first release to date, I’m excited to have something tangible in my hand and to be showcasing these 5 songs to my existing fans. I have many new songs up my sleeve and can’t wait to start recording again", says Eden.
The EP was recorded, produced, and mixed and mastered by Kovi Mongelli at Sound Solutions, Ponsonby except for I Will Be, produced by Greg Bailey.
Eden will celebrate the release at Backbeat Bar on Saturday March 1st with support from Fletcher Mills before she heads to the SXSW Music Festival on March 7th.
