Lightning Bells resonate loud and clear with the release of their latest EP Chime, out today.
This Auckland indie pop outfit consists of front man, Christy Whelan, sister Emily and a talented bunch of musicians including Luke Benson, Ryan Carroll, Sung Jin Hong and Ryan Drew.
The EP is filled with personal tales about a life that lies somewhere between growing up and settling down… a theme also tackled in hilarious fashion by their video for their lead single ‘Wake Up’.
The six songs included on Chime reveal diverse instrumentation and a pop sensibility, and demonstrate the magnetism between Christy’s energetic and at times raspy lead vocals and Emily’s sweet harmonies.
The EP was produced by the band’s close friend and collaborator Arli Liberman, recorded and mixed at The Lab studios by Olly Harmer and mastered by Andrew Edgson at Studios 301 in Sydney.
Lightning Bells are celebrating the release with these shows in the North Island:
Fri 21 March - Juice Bar - Auckland
Sat 22 March - Major Toms - Mt Maunganui
