Cocoa Jackson Lane is a new collaboration between vocalist Jess Harlan and bassist Camilla Charlesworth. Based in Boston for most of the year, the pair are back on home soil (AUS/NZ) to release their debut EP, supporting the likes of Aaradhna and Kora and featuring on new Jayson Norris single with Tiki Taane.
Raised in Australia and of Maori and Indonesian heritage, CJL explore the flavours of their Pacific backdrop whilst also digging deep into urban influences and swirling 70’s rock in their second single Fall On My Floor. Driven by an unwavering 808 pulse, the self produced track is punctuated by Jess Harlen’s defiant, soulful vocals and Camilla's groove heavy bass.
Written on the road and recorded in their Boston apartment, lead single In Search Of Souls (released Jan 2014) has sent their forthcoming EP off to a flying start with accompanying anime video currently screening on Juice TV, C4, Maori TV, and Air New Zealand's in-flight entertainment. The single has also been play listed on Kiwi Fm, Radio NZ, Plains Fm, Radio One and more.
