‘The Crusader’ debuted at No.1 on the Recording Industry Association of New Zealand (RIANZ) music charts today joining Scribe’s single ‘Stand Up/Not Many’ which stayed at No.1 this week. (‘Stand Up/Not Many’ has appeared at No.1 in New Zealand for 8 weeks to date.)
RIANZ has confirmed that as far as their own records show, this is the first time a New Zealand artist has achieved a simultaneous Number One single and album.
Scribe’s producer and Dirty Records (Scribe’s label) co-owner P Money said from New York, “Im completely blown away by Scribe's success at the moment. It's great. I felt we'd made a great album that would be well received but I never anticipated the response we're getting now...wow.”
“We are all a little overwhelmed by this success” said Festival Mushroom Records (who market and distribute Dirty Records) Managing Director Mark Ashbridge. “Scribe is immensely talented; it’s been such a pleasure to be able to achieve something of such significance for him. ‘The Crusader’ is a remarkable album, we fell in love with it instantly and clearly the rest of the country is following suit. The album has been out for only two weeks and has already easily achieved platinum sales, and it feels like we’ve only just started. It’s gratifying to see so many New Zealanders buying music made in New Zealand”.
Scribe, who is set to embark on a five date National Tour in November, was celebrating his unique achievement with family and friends at time of writing.
