“This album is extraordinary. Angus and Julia are truly unique musicians. They are authentic and pure people who do things from the heart. I’ve never worked with anyone like them before’’ – Rick Rubin
Angus & Julia Stone are set to bring their critically acclaimed live show to New Zealand this September. The forthcoming tour will see the band perform many of their most recognized and well-loved tracks, along with exciting new material from the soon to be released third album produced by Rick Rubin.
Angus & Julia have had very successful careers both as a duo and more recently, independently as solo artists.
It was the legendary US producer Rick Rubin (Jay Z, Beastie Boys, Johnny Cash etc) who being a fan and familiar with their musical history, suggested they get together once more as a band. Angus and Julia spent time writing and recording at Rubin’s Shangri La Studios in Malibu and the result is their brilliant, forthcoming album Angus & Julia Stone.
This September sees the band take to the live stage for the first time in New Zealand playing one of the the nation's most iconic venues The Powerstation.
Joining them will be the blogosphere’s most talked about act of 2013, Vancouver Sleep Clinic, aka 18 year old Brisbanite Tim Bettinson, who released his debut EP earlier this year to rave reviews. Described as a combination of soaring falsetto vocals built upon progressive synthetic instrumentation to create an ambient base for a vessel of emotional connections to be made.
“With the most basic tools, the Stones build something lovely and lasting. Roll with them.” - BBC UK
“Watching the family Stone is like taking a minibreak – warm, intimate and inviting – you'll feel better for it.” - The Guardian
