There’s undoubtedly something in the air around Auckland’s Golden Age studio where writer-producer Joel Little fashioned Lorde’s Pure Heroine and Broods’ forthcoming Evergreen. And now the Morningside studio has announced the arrival of the Golden Age Sessions.
The Golden Age Sessions will be a series of film clips recorded in the small but perfectly formed studio. They have invited some of their favourite artists down to record something unique to each occasion.
This first Golden Age Session captures the intimate and very special vibe of the studio, with Lydia Cole’s stunning interpretation of Haim’s recent hit If I Could Change Your Mind.
Recorded in a single take by engineer Nic Manders, Lydia draws out the heart of the California Haim girls’ bubbly pop track in a mesmerizing acoustic version of the synth-driven hit song.
Lydia showcases If I Could Change Your Mind as the brilliant piece of pop songwriting it is as well as digging deeper into the melancholic nostalgia at the song’s heart.
