Shihad have made New Zealand music history today with their new album, FVEY, debuting at #1 on the country's Top 40 Albums Chart.
Today's #1 debut makes the Kiwi rockers the band with the most #1 albums in New Zealand chart history.
Shihad are the only New Zealand band to have five #1 albums. Moreover, all five of these albums also debuted at #1 - a feat that no other New Zealand artist has ever achieved.
THE GENERAL ELECTRIC, PACIFIER, BEAUTIFUL MACHINE and IGNITE also debuted at #1.
Warner Music New Zealand's General Manager, Phil Howling, says, "Warner Music NZ are extremely proud of Shihad and their History making #1 record FVEY. WMNZ has enjoyed a long and wonderfully creative relationship with Shihad and this has been proved again with the release of one of their finest records to date. FVEY proves that very few can come close to the power and greatness that is the 'beautiful machine' called Shihad."
FVEY, the ninth studio album from the band, was recorded in December last year at Auckland's legendary York Street Studio with Killing Joke frontman, Jaz Coleman at the production helm. The album sounds unlike anything Shihad have done before, which is not bad for a band who have been around for 25 years.
Check out Shihad performing songs from FVEY in the last ever performance at York Street Studios as part of the NZ Herald Sundae Sessions.
FVEY is available now from iTunes, JB Hi-Fi and Mighty Ape.
