The latest season of VH1’s
Love & Hip Hop Atlanta, might be drawing to a close, but VH1 + Def Jam Recordings have teamed up to make sure that the music lives on with the release of
VH1’s Love & Hip Hop: Music From The Series - featuring New Zealand’s very own
Janine and the Mixtape.
The #1 reality show on US cable, Janine and the Mixtape’s feature on the show for her track
Hold Me saw her embark on a chart take-over, appearing across nine different US charts including #2 placements on both the Billboard Heatseekers and iTunes R&B hit lists.
"VH1’s Love & Hip Hop is an amazing platform for new music discovery and supports independent music. As an Indie R&B artist from New Zealand, having my music on the show was an incredible opportunity to gain huge exposure in US which has helped so much with my career! It's an honor to be on such on the soundtrack with other artists that's that I have looked up to. Thank you ‘Love & Hip Hop!’” she said.
Keeping good company, the album also includes tracks from Iggy Azalea, Trey Songz, Emeli Sande, Ne-Yo, Gary Clark Jr., and series stars Stevie J (featuring Snoop Dogg) and K.Michell. The digital album will also contain the new single
No Love by August Alsina (featuring Nicki Minaj).
Janine and the Mixtape’s manager, Andy Murnane, describes the sync as a “breakthrough moment”.

Since its premiere in 2011,
VH1’s Love & Hip Hop franchise has dominated pop culture and social media. Additionally, the series has its own musical identity, which has proven to be an effective and unprecedented platform for showcasing and promoting R&B artists, most specifically.
As a result of the overwhelming response to the music featured on the show, Def Jam Recordings approached VH1 to compile a soundtrack highlighting these artists who are both developing and well known.
