The New Zealand R&B, soul, electronica duo Electric Wire Hustle release their sophomore album Love Can Prevail worldwide Monday September 8th 2014
Love Can Prevail will be released independently in New Zealand through Electric Wire Hustle's own label Every Waking Hour and distributed via DRM and will be released in US/EU/UK & South America through The Roots’ Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson’s label Okayplayer in collaboration with UK imprint Somethinksounds.
The upcoming 10-track LP is “a mash of classic soul and futuristic sounds anchored by dynamic lyricism and a degree of musicianship that will only help to cement the project as a sonic tour de force.”– Okayplayer.
Love Can Prevail is the highly-anticipated follow-up to the duo’s critically-acclaimed self-titled 2010 debut, which thrust the group into the international spotlight and achieved cult status following its release; a number one song on Hype Machine, five-star reviews from the likes of KCRW and BBC Radio, support from Gilles Peterson (“Definite Worldwide winners and so good live”) plus Benji B, Jason Bentley, Anthony Valadez, Aaron Byrd and Garth Trinidad.
Love Can Prevail is supported by the June released EP - If These Are The Last Days EP (June 1st) which has already made iTunes UK’s best of 2014 and sees the genre-smashing Kiwi duo delving into the boundless pool of left-field r&b and otherworldly influence. There are a host of remixes by the likes of UK producer Eliphino, German producer Flako, LA producer and renowned DJ Anthony Valadez and NZ producer Voices (aka Sam Bora of Shapeshifter) and upcoming remixes by Osunlade, Seven Davis Jnr, Computer Jay and KCRW's Garth Trinidad with an edit of “Numbers and Steel” ft. Guilty Simpson (Stones Throw) – these remixes are slated to be released throughout the New Zealand summer.
The first official single to be taken from the upcoming release is By&Bye (currently topping CMJ charts around the U.S.)
The forthcoming video for By&Bye was choreographed by world renowned House Dancer Meech & shot by Papi Films (Harpers Bazaar and John Galliano). The video was shot at an undisclosed location outside of Paris.
Demand for their live show has seen EWH perform in 14 countries, including recent performances at The Roots Picnic in Philadelphia, with Kimbra in Los Angeles (May 2014), and at renowned L.A. nights Low End Theory & Funkmosphere, as well as appearing at festivals such as Glastonbury, Dour, Sonar, Sziget, SXSW, Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide and New York’s CMJ.
Upping the ante, EWH will also embark upon a series of U.S. tour dates in support of the album release in September with stops in Miami, New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco, after this Electric Wire Hustle will bring the Love Can Prevail show home with a touring schedule this October - NEW ZEALAND TOUR TOUR DATES TO BE ANNOUNCED
