Music News - Moana and the Tribe announce Waiheke Island show
18 October 2014 - 0 Comments
Sat 1 Nov, Artworks, Oneroa, 7-10pm
Doors Open 6.30pm
Moana & the Tribe's live show has been described by the N.Z Herald as 'delivering a thumping, visually powerful and cleverly calculated implosion of waiata, haka and electronic-flavored soul-funk.' And in their first in a series of tour dates celebrating their latest album
Rima, the 8-piece band are bringing their unique sound to Waiheke.
‘Paddy Free steers much of the album into a new genre of waiata-dub and punchy dance floor directed songs where politics and te reo slip in effortlessly.
Rima is a powerful and important collection. Highly recommended.’ (Graham Reid, NZ Herald). The band launched
Rima (Rhythmethod/DRM) at the Galatos on Sept 28.
‘It was one highlight after another. Warrior Woman was thumping and the moody Ko Au was driven by a hypnotic low hum.’ (Marty Duda, 13th Floor)
Moana & the Tribe will play at Artworks with T.K as a supporting artist and opening act. As a small community space, tickets are limited. Get yours now for $20 on Eventfinda or from Toi Gallery, home to sculptors Sally Smith and Chris Bailey.
