“The perfect mix of entertainment, originality and intelligence for young kiwis.” Damian Vaughan, CEO Recorded Music NZ
The Jungle Is Jumping is the latest cool and crazy children’s album from fleaBITE, winner of the 2013 Best NZ Children’s Album. This is the third release from fleaBITE, written and produced by Robin Nathan.
Robin also took the gong in 2002 for the successful CD series by Fatcat & Fishface, after which the award was not offered for 10 long years. When it was reinstated in 2013, fleaBITE’sCircus Of Fleas scooped it up (Anika Moa got the honours this year).
The Jungle Is Jumping swerves off the beaten track of children’s music to exotic locales. There’s adventure on the high seas (No Toast), a night-time duel with a marauding mosquito (Little Miss Mosquito), and Dr Suess inspired salsa (Pom Pom Song).
Two members of critically acclaimed indie band The Phoenix Foundation spice up the jungle curry (Conrad Wedde on guitar and Chris O’Connor on drums), and jazz wild man Jeff Henderson howls on the saxophone. This is exciting stuff…it’s definitely not the Wiggles!
Grab your insect repellent and check out the best kids’ album to beat its chest and swing through the trees. Family trips in the car will never be so entertaining.
