Alternative/progressive rock band Decortica delivers an immersive fly-through of geometric effects with the new music video Dihex. The song draws on the abstract art and sci-fi references of the third album,11811. This is the second video release from the album, following the LED lightscapes of Helix.
Decortica has pursued a strain of angular alternative music, incorporating elements of prog, hard rock and alternative-metal. The band's repertoire is heavy and harmonic, driving and dynamic. Finding a niche in online communities and less common touring markets, their three-album journey has been eclectic. Last year, Decortica travelled to South Africa; a territory rarely visited by New Zealand acts. Having previously released a concept album about urban Japanese subculture, the band has also toured across Tokyo to Osaka.
Decortica has developed a collection of engaging videos. Supported by NZ On Air, Dihex is a new collaboration with Jared Kahi, part of the production team behind Helix,Shinkansen and Eros. The video reflects the song's thematic framework of code, patterns and design as means of expression. The lattice of riffs, harmonies and complex grooves mesh with intricate compositions; showcasing New Zealand landscape's with ephemeral VFX.
