Straight off the plane from
Tokyo and into Auckland’s
Roundhead Studios, Fat Freddy’s Drop recorded six tracks live
to be released exclusively as an iTunes
Session, and is available for pre-order Friday 28 November.
The iTunes Session captures the finely honed and galvanised energy of the
Freddy’s live performance after a prolific year of headline international
shows. Highlights included the sold-out Alexandra Palace show in London
(capacity 10,000) and a much anticipated Japanese debut in Tokyo.
The track list features recent single release Slings and Arrows from the bands
forthcoming studio album; a haunting version of Dark Days, a track not re-visited sinceBOATS (Based On A True Story, 2005) and even Wandering
Eye even makes a reprise as part of an extended This Room. Bringing
the session to a close the band drop a completely new track available only on
this iTunes Session, the deep techno jam Cortina
Motors MK1.
Full track-listing: Slings
and Arrows, Russia, Blackbird, Dark Days, This Room (The Wandering Eye Reprise
ReRub), Cortina Motors MK1
Released globally on Friday 12 December, the Fat Freddy’s Drop iTunes
Session is available for pre-order Friday 28 November on iTunes.
Fat Freddy’s Drop also
announce today their only NZ summer headline show at Auckland Zoo on Valentines Day,
February 14th before they return to Bays Studio in hometown
Wellington to keep recording the new album.
Playing between lions, rhinoceros and monkeys is nothing new for Freddys who
headlined sold out shows at Sydney’s Taronga Zoo and Melbourne Zoo earlier this
year.
As one reviewer noted, “Fat
Freddy’s Drop showed those zoo animals how to be wild.” (http://www.summersite.com/)
