Flotsam and Jetsam is the ethereal, cinematic new single from West Auckland band Macombee & the Absolute Truth and a precursor to their forthcoming album, No Man’s Land, out early December.
Tripping through a
cinematic wilderness, Flotsam
& Jetsam takes you on a surrealist journey through
the fourth dimension passing by Dali masterpieces as it tugs on the apron
strings of Bassey-esque Bond themes and all this while catching the bus home in
the evening rush hour.
In short it's a highly individual track that wouldn't be out of place in any
major feature film’s dream sequence as it effortlessly floats from jazz breaks
to massive swelling orchestrated swathes of tripped out goodness.
The video for the single is a surreal tea party scenario set amidst the
backdrop of a wild west coast beach. Directed and filmed by Immi Paterson-Harkness and produced and edited
by Darryn Paterson-Harkness, the video features actor David Thiele. View
it here.
Flotsam and Jetsam is just one example of a collection of
evocative tracks that front woman and songwriter Sarah Macombee offers on the
forthcoming Macombee
& the Absolute Truth album No Man’s Land,
due out December 5th.
Flotsam and
Jetsam is available for purchase on ITunes and all good digital outlets.
