New Zealand music heads to the French Riviera this month as music industry professionals from around the globe gather once again for MIDEM, the world's biggest music trade fair.
MIDEM is five days of music networking at its best and for the third year running a broad mix of NZ music, from contemporary to classical will be represented in Cannes from January 25 to 29.
NZ Music Industry Commission Executive Director Cath Andersen says the main mission for the Kiwi contingent is to achieve export business.
“We’re excited about further possibilities for New Zealand music on the global stage and the opportunities an event like MIDEM creates for local music businesses,” she says.
More than 9000 delegates including record labels, music publishers, agents, producers, promoters and import/exporters will work the trade show floor, attending seminars, networking and making deals.
The New Zealand stand will represent local labels LOOP, Yellow Eye, Siren and Intergalactic; classical composer agency SOUNZ; independent music publisher Native Tongue; Migraine Distribution; IT/music company Observatory Crest and the German Sol de Sully agency which represents Moana & The Tribe.
