Kiwis haven’t heard an Official Top 40 countdown on their radios since the ‘80s. Back then, we were dancing to David Bowie and relaxing to Stevie Wonder. Now, with Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’ Uptown Funk topping our charts, in conjunction with ZM Recorded Music NZ is bringing back the Official Top 40 Countdown radio show.
Beginning tomorrow (January 17), ZM will be playing the top 40 singles every Saturday from 2-5pm. The rankings are compiled by Recorded Music NZ using data from physical sales, digital downloads and streaming to provide an accurate reflection of what New Zealanders are buying and listening to most.
Those who miss the Saturday afternoon show on ZM can catch up on the biggest hits of the week on iHeartRadio: http://www.iheart.com/live/NZ-Top-40-6491/
The CEO of Recorded Music NZ Damian Vaughan says it’s great to see our Top 40 hits back on air in one show.
“It’s fantastic to be working with ZM to bring the Official Top 40 Countdown back to radio. New Zealanders listen to a wide variety of music and this is a great way to celebrate the popular hits of our time.”
