Ginny Blackmore Announces Debut Album 'Over The Moon' To Be Released March 27

09 February 2015 - 0 Comments

Ginny Blackmore, New Zealand’s most captivating pop newcomer, is set to release her debut album Over The Moon through Sony Music New Zealand on March 20.

Based in Los Angeles, Ginny has transitioned from a career writing songs for other people (Christina Aguilera, Adam Lambert, Nicole Scherzinger) to taking the mic and belting the self-penned lyrics like nobody else can.

Bursting onto the music scene in 2013 with the release of her #1, double platinum selling debut single BONES, Ginny went on to dominate New Zealand radio with her stunning duet with Stan Walker, Holding You, which also topped the charts at #1, and went on to become the Most Played New Zealand song of 2014.

Continuing her success, Ginny has just released Love Me Anyway, a captivating and emotive new single that speaks of the fear that comes with any new relationship, about being accepted and loved regardless of your flaws. This message is one close to Ginny’s heart, and one that shines through, amplified by the layered harmonies and faultless vocals.

The album is a bona fide Pop/R&B affair that combines the ultramodern feel of R&B slow-jams, which Blackmore loves so much, with her laid-bare andheart driven approach to pop song writing. It is a showcase of Ginny’s powerhouse voice, which she pushes to its limit, confiding her hopes and heartbreaks with a vulnerability that's unmatched.

Using the same process that she wrote her hit singles, in a small room, engineering her own vocals on her laptop, Ginny has created an album that is, “as honest as I could make it" she says. "It's my perspective on love and life. I made the album I wanted to make. I'm stubborn like that!”

Collaborating with award-winning,international producers Tricky Stewart (Beyonce, Rihanna) Alan Nglish (Cee Lo Green) Rob Wells (Paloma Faith, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez) and Step Manahan (Busta Rhymes, Christina Aguilera), Ginny was able to craft her debut that she says is “100% my own flavour!” That she hopes people can hear and feel themselves in it somewhere.

Ginny was born and raised in Mission Bay, Auckland. She left high school at age 15 to pursue her career in music.
