The television show, which has swept over the globe from UK's Pop Idol, to the recently finished Australian Idol, won by Guy Sebastian, has now reached our shores. Many new music careers have been launched overseas, and now it's time for local people to have their go.
Applications have now closed for entering NZ Idol, which has been announced to be hosted by Dominic Bowden and judged by Paul Ellis, Fiona McDonald and Frankie Stevens. Auditions were held in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
Auditionees are expected to sing solo at least 2 parts of a song (eg. Verse or bridge and chorus) acapella (no backing tracks) and were able sing whatever style they wanted and what they thought showed their best in vocal. This included original pieces.
There is so much talent expected at the auditions. Levi Kereama was one of the New Zealand born contestants in the Australian Idol competition, and with his R'n'B style progressed to the top 12 and made it to the 4th round of that. Alot of R'n'B talent is in New Zealand, and much of it is expected in this competition.
Good luck to all contestants and remember, this is a chance of a lifetime!
