Tahuna Breaks will mark their 10 year anniversary with the release of a live album - Tahuna Breaks Live 10 - on March 13. Recorded late last year at the one off show celebrating the milestone, the album features 10 live hits from previously released albums including Reflections, Casually Acquainted, Voodoo, Giddy Up and more, as well as the live concert film on DVD.
Tahuna Breaks have always encompassed a rich diversity of musical genres and styles. With live configurations of between six and ten members of the group’s lie act is energetic, raw and large and is influenced by artists as carried as James Brown to Daft Punk.
The band is well known for being unafraid to mix genres and have honed their sound on the live stage that encompasses funk, disco, soul live electronics and roots.
Since inception 10 years ago, the band natural trajectory has seen them focus on the addictive rhythmic elements that get audiences moving. By their own definition they are a ‘party band’ who does whatever it takes to create an escapist and euphoric experience for their audience.
Regulars at major events, festival appearances have included: Highlife (NZ), Rhythm & Vines/Alps (NZ), Big Day Out (NZ), Homegrown (NZ), Splore (NZ), Homelanz (UK), Jarasum International Jazz Festival (South Korea), Ulsan World Music Festival (South Korea), Moomba Water Festival (Australia), Caloundra Music Festival (Australia) and many other major festivals across both New Zealand and Australia along with countless tours and sold out performances.
