CMC Award nominee Jody Direen is excited to announce the release of her new album Jody Direen Breaks Out, which will be available from April 24. The Wanaka-based singer/songwriter has taken this album in a new musical direction, embracing the influences of pop and rock while staying true to her country roots.
Recorded in Nashville, Tennesse with award-winning producer Jay Tooke, Jody’s powerful, edgy vocals and inescapable hooks are complemented by some of ‘Music City’s’ finest session players. Jody lived in Nashville while writing the songs and recording the album, where she had the incredible experience of meeting industry megastars and Grammy Award winners Carrie Underwood and Vince Gill.
“Nashville is a very inspiring place, I wrote a majority of the material there. Meeting some of my idols while I was there really fuelled my passion for writing and music even more. As a result, I feel the album has an international sound,” Jody explains.
April will also see Jody head out on her first nationwide tour in support of the new album. Kicking off on April 25 with a free concert to celebrate the release of Jody Direen Breaks Out, Jody will be joined by special guest and 2015 X Factor contender, Kayla Mahon at the iconic Lake Hawea Hotel – Jody’s local stomping ground. She is looking forward to sharing her new songs with her fans, especially as this is her most personal release to date.
“This album has been a four-year project. I took my time writing the songs because I want people to get to know me through my music,” Jody says. “I want to share my journey and my enthusiasm for life and love. I want people to dance, laugh and make good memories or draw strength from my music.”
2015 has already been an incredibly successful year for Jody. She recently returned home from Australia where she was nominated for New Oz Artist of the Year award before performing after USA Grammy Award winner Kasey Musgraves, in front of an estimated 10,000-strong crowd at CMC Rocks Queensland. She also opened for country legend Kenny Rogers on his tour of New Zealand in February, which she describes as a night she will never forget.
Jody Direen Breaks Out will be released on iTunes, Google Play and all leading digital download websites.
