iHeartRadio New Zealand has launched a new station ANZAC Day Remembered to commemorate all New Zealanders killed in war and honour the returned service people.
ANZAC Day Remembered offers listeners a dedicated stream to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the ANZAC Gallipoli landings on Saturday, April 25 by featuring documentary content prepared by the Christian Broadcasters Association for Newstalk ZB and narrated by Leighton Smith.
Each week during April, a new episode will feature along with a blend of classic ANZAC artists from Split Enz to Midnight Oil, and other emotive tracks about the war years.
NZME’s Group Strategy and Operations Director, Carolyn Luey says, “The ANZAC Day Remembered station is a tribute to those who protected our freedom and democracy and our way of remembering their sacrifice and bravery in the lead up to ANZAC Day.
“The content will be of interest to a broad audience and we hope the digital nature of this station will expose the ANZAC story to a younger audience.”
Episode one starts at the beginning of World War 1 relaying how New Zealanders ended up at the Dardanelles. Episode two covers the Allied forces landing on Gallipoli Peninsula on 25 April 1915. The stories from the battlefield feature in episode three, with ANZAC Day and what it means to New Zealanders today the final episode.
