Music News - Yoko-Zuna Announce Debut Album, Release First Single
26 June 2015 - 0 Comments
Rising from the Auckland
underground, eclectic four-piece Yoko-Zuna have come together with some of New Zealand’s most notorious on their debut
album
This Place Here,
set for release on 17 July.
The genre-explorative album is split into three parts - soul, electronic and
hip-hop; with the band’s musical melding taking you on a journey through sub
electronic frequencies, melodic moments and immense bass-synth-fuelled drops.
Lead single
Revival feat. Team
Dynamite drops today, with the video – an epic cartoon battle
between the two different outfits –
online now.
The track itself opens up with Tony
Tz’s signature spitfire rap, with the verses speaking about
clocking life’s levels and one-upping your previous self, then glued together
by a pitch bended bass line, jungle drums and Hans Zimmer-inspired horns.
Bringing together the who’s-who and who’s-next of NZ talent, other features on
the up-coming album include David
Dallas,
Melodownz,
Bailey Wiley,
Rodney Fisher and Spycc.
The high calibre of features reflects Yoko-Zuna’s own rising status as one of the most interesting up-comers to surface from the
Auckland scene.
Revival feat. Team
Dynamite is available for purchase from
iTunes now,
with Yoko-Zuna’s debut album to be released on Friday 17 July.
