Villainy Returns With New Single, 'Safe Passage'

06 July 2015 - 0 Comments

One of New Zealand’s most respected rock acts, Villainy, is back with an exciting new single Safe Passage – at radio today.

Villainy is comprised of Neill Fraser (Vocals and Guitar), Thomas Watts (Guitar), James Dylan (Bass) and David Johnston (Drums).

The band recently posted an online video for a new track, Syria teasing fans that something new was coming; now they make their return to the airwaves this week with new single Safe Passage, which is released July 10 through Warner Music New Zealand.

Warner Music New Zealand General Manager, Phil Howling, says; “For a long time I have admired Villainy as one of New Zealand’s premier Rock acts. So it’s with excitement WMNZ announce our newly-formed relationship with the band. We are very much looking forward to the release of the brand new single Safe Passage and the new album release later this year.”

Safe Passage, showcases Villainy smashing waves of distortion against a towering wall of drums while Fraser's vocals stand clear and strong in the melee.

The single goes out to New Zealand radio today and is available to pre-order on iTunes, officially going on sale Friday, July 10. Listen to it here.

“We're stoked to be joining the Warner crew - they've always been front and centre of rock music in this country and we're pumped to see what we create together;” says Thom Watts.

Since the band’s formation, they have released a Top 10 album, Mode. Set. Clear in 2012 that featured five Top 10 Rock Radio singles (three of which hit the #1 spot): Alligator Skin, The Answer, Gather Yourselves, Another Time and Ammunition. Mode. Set. Clear also won the award for Best Rock Album at the 2013 NZ Music Awards.

The band has supported the likes of The Offspring, Billy Talent and Seether as well as performing at Big Day Out and Homegrown.

Villainy has just been announced as the support act on the upcoming Devilskin tour of New Zealand! The Mountains and Moon tour kicks off in Hamilton on Friday September 18 and takes in 12 dates across two months.
