Anthony Healey, APRA’s Director of NZ operations, is one of three new members on the New Zealand Music Industry Commission Board of trustees.
Mr Healey is ‘delighted’ to be involved with the NZMIC, which he considers an ‘integral part of the NZ music industry both locally and internationally’.
Healey, who recently replaced Mike Chunn as head of APRA, says the NZMIC role comes as ‘part of the territory’.
“There are many exciting projects in the pipeline which the entire industry stands to benefit from and I look forward to being involved with these,” says Healey.
Anthony’s appointment coincides with manager Teresa Patterson and Christchurch musician Stephen McCarthy.
Patterson has ten years of music industry experience including record company and publicist roles. Currently she manages internationally oriented acts Blindspott, Carly Binding and the Have.
“I’m excited about he future of the MIC and believe it has great potential, “says Teresa.
Stephen McCarthy is part of popular Christchurch based three-piece Pine, and is also an accomplished video maker. With his appointment to the NZMIC board, he says he hopes to ‘narrow the gap between north and south and help musicians achieve a sense of success’.
The New Zealand Music Industry Commission wishes to acknowledge departing board members Maria Carter and Mike Chunn for their contributions and long-term involvement. Both Carter and Chunn have been trustees since the inception of the organisation, which is a government funded trust, established in 2000 to help grow the New Zealand contemporary popular music industry.
