Electric Wire Hustle have teamed up with Kiwi songstress Kimbra for Brother Sun, available now digitally via Loop and Bastard Jazz. The single is taken from the forthcoming Aeons EP, which is now available for pre-order.
Brother Sun is the result of a collaboration between two of New Zealand’s most exciting and innovative musical talents, featuring Grammy Award winner Kimbra alongside Mara TK’s distinctive tones.
Brother Sun showcases the continued progression of Electric Wire Hustle, and their ever evolving sound, pushing the boundaries of electronic music into a psychedelic-soul realm. A pulsating drum beat which dances around the unmistakable voice of Kimbra, Brother Sun is one of the short stories which makes up the AeonsEP.
The single release of Brother Sun features an amazing version of the track by Aron Ottignon and Rodi Kirk. These two European-based NZ artists have been working together over the past year creating a unique and compelling fusion of Aron’s virtuosic jazz piano with avant-garde electronic music and sound design.
For their version of Brother Sun, the two have taken a live band approach featuring steel pan from Londoner Samuel Dubois and bass from former Jamiroquai member Nick Fyfe. The resulting sound is a bouncy piano-driven dancefloor jam which references 70’s disco and jazz, along with Rodi’s modern production elements.
