Music News - New 'Direction' single and video for Sam Bartells

New 'Direction' single and video for Sam Bartells

20 November 2015 - 0 Comments

Auckland based acoustic soul singer/songwriter Sam Bartells is pleased to announce his brand new single and video Direction, out today.

Bartells has an earthy husky timbre and a love of raw acoustic guitar – his influences being the honest lyrics and memorable melodies of Ben Harper, James Taylor, Jimmy Barnes, Neil Finn and Dave Dobbyn to name a few.

Direction is no exception and Bartells sings from the heart with this beautifully orchestrated acoustic track, punctuated by delicate piano voicings and a staccato drumbeat.

"This song is about struggling with personal addictions and overcoming obstacles in my own life." says Bartells. "When you are so close to losing everything you can finally see clearly what is important to you."

Direction was recorded at Roundhead Studios and produced by Greg Haver (Manic Street Preachers) who has enhanced the song with a warm sound and lush arrangements.

Direction is available now via iTunes, Amplifier and all good digital music outlets.
