Kelsely Abaza is a composer and producer of avant-garde and experimental electronic music working in New Zealand. His work has been hailed by the Canadian branch of Egypt’s Ahram newspaper as a “masterful” mix "between the classical, the traditional and the best of modern experimental music." Mashareeb, an Egyptian underground music community and website described Abaza’s work as "very special , very distinctive, very daring and very unusual."
On 12 December 2015 Abaza released Mood up the Mode, a composition of experimental Jazzy/Funk electronica.
We are pleased to announce a new release, Amira, dedicated to Abaza’s youngest sister and translating to ‘princess’ in Arabic. It is perhaps his most accessible production to-date.
Amira will be available for free download on Bandcamp and Soundcloud from 3pm today in 320kbps MP3 format. The lossless audio version will subsequently be released to all major online music vendors within 14 days (allowing for holiday delays).
A member of the Cantabrian Society of Sonic Artists, Abaza will stage a concert at Christchurch's Sonic art performance venue The Auricle on 30 January 2016. This concert will premier unreleased compositions of avant-garde and experimental electronic music inspired by the classical tradition.
