Ben Lummis Creates Massive Sales Spike With Debut Single

19 May 2004 - 0 Comments

NZ Idol winner Ben Lummis' debut release 'They Can't Take That Away' has blitzed all other singles on the New Zealand Top 40 to debut at #1 on the NZ Singles Chart this week!

'They Can't Take That Away' outsold the #2 song by ten to one.

It is the first local #1 debut in four and a half years, with Ben being only the seventh New Zealand act to debut at the top spot.

'They Can't Take That Away' is also the first local single in living memory to ship triple platinum (30,000 units) in its first week.

Ben's success at a fan level has been matched by radio airplay. 'They Can't Take That Away' was the #1 Most Added song to radio last week, and is now the #29 Most Played song in the country - the highest ever new entry!

Ben is visiting Wellington and Christchurch this week, before flying back to Auckland to continue recording his as-yet untitled album, due for release on June 15th.
