Khandallah is the haunting lead single from Auckland band Mice on Stilts’ forthcoming album Hope for a Mourning – due out April 15th 2016.
Khandallah is a universal love song about finding a space where two individuals
exist without anxiety or expectation of each other, romantic or otherwise.
Songwriter Ben
Morley says, “I used to work for an internet provider
and every day I'd speak to different people from all around Aotearoa.
While working there I spoke to a woman who lived in Khandallah. For
whatever reason the word just kind of stuck with me. I looked up the suburb and
read all about it. The name means 'resting place of god'."
Mice On Stilts traverse genre distinctions to create their own sound, once described as
“a sombre, subtle and slow-to-grow opus that virtually exudes a cinematic aura
others of their kind often only allude to.”
Khandallah is
now available for purchase from iTunes and all good DSPs. Hope For A Mourning album
pre-orders available here.
Khandallah is
streaming now on Australian indie music blog Hhhhappy and on Soundcloud.
Hope For A Mourning is
to be released on April
15th via Aeroplane
Music Records and will be available for digital purchase.
Physical CDs and special edition art books (with accompanying digital
download) will also be available from Flying
Out record store.
