The Jason McIver Collective is pleased to announce the release of their debut album I May No Perf - out April 1st.
This 9 track collection captures the true essence of kiwi music with pop, rock,
blues, folk and even dub influences featured within the songs.
Says front man Jason
McIver, “The songs on the album deal with a mixture of things,
but at the forefront is what I was dealing with at the time, a nervous break
down. I took time off from work and went to Wellington & my home town of
Motueka to ground myself again and get into a head space that could be locked
in a studio for a month without driving everyone around me insane.”
Recorded & mixed at Zorran
Mendonsa Productions (Black River Drive, Cobra Khan) over the
month of August 2015, the songs were built up in the studio producing something
very different to the first E.P.
“It was definitely more of a collaborative effort”, says McIver. “Most of the
songs were written and demoed then sent out to everyone to write against and
work on in their own time and space.”
The album also features Elisha
Hobbs on piano and vocal harmonies and Grace Baker
(sister of Louie Baker) sings on the track "Sometimes",
I May No Perf is
released via Southern
Collective Music and is available for purchase on iTunes and all good digital service providers.
Physical CDs will be available at live shows and via their website.
The Jason McIver Collective celebrate the I May No Perf release
with a show at The Kings Arms on Friday April 22nd.
