One
of Australia’s hardest working bands is at it again… Melbourne locals The Smith Street Band have barely stopped to take a breath since the release of their third album,
2014’s Throw Me In The
River. Now before heading into the abyss to work on its follow-up,
the four-piece will give Throw
Me In The River one last run of live shows across Australia,
wrapping up the tour with dates in Auckland,
Palmerston North and Wellington.
The last 18 months has seen the band take Throw
Me In The River to rock fans everywhere, with two headline
Australian tours, playing North American and European festivals, Splendour In The Grass and
this year’s AustralianLaneway Festival dates. They’re just back from their first North
American headline tour where they played sold out shows in New York,
Philadelphia and Boston. Next month, the band play seven Australian dates before
crossing the ditch for just their second visit to New Zealand shores.
Released to critical acclaim Throw
Me In The River landed triple j album of the week and debuted in
the ARIA top 20 album chart, scored the band a nomination for ‘Best Independent
Hard Rock, Heavy or Punk Album’ at the 2015 AIR Awards, ‘Live Act of the Year’
at the Rolling Stone Awards and took out the gong for ‘Best Live Band’ at The
Age Music Victoria Awards. Single Surrender came
in at #69 in triple j’s Hottest 100 and their Tony Abbott 7” release Wipe That Shit-Eating Grin off Your
Punchable Face donated all its profits to the Asylum Seeker
Resource Centre.
No stranger to top notch supports, the New Zealand leg of the tour will see The
Smith Street Band joined by Auckland’s Carb on Carb on all three
dates, Street Chant in Auckland and more support bands to be
announced.
This
June, join relentless road warriors The Smith Street Band in celebrating and
saying farewell to Throw Me
In The River around Australia and New Zealand.

Hello to our friends across the ditch!
We are very sorry to announce that we're going to have to cancel this weekends New Zealand shows due to my leg injury! It's very swollen and due to the amount of internal bleeding the doctor has said I can't fly because it would risk blood clots and other serious complications!
We're very sorry to cancel and wouldn't be doing it if there was any other way! The shows are already being rescheduled for later in the year!
**Note - Carb On Carb will still play Great Job in Palmerston North, any extra news on shows will be posted to the tour event
Love,
Wil xxx
