Auckland based hip-hop artist Sir T has just released a powerful new track alongside a challenging music video on 17 May 2016, funded by NZ On Air’s Making Tracks Scheme.
Legend is a song about coming-of-age, and how ordinary people can have inspirational influence in their communities in the face of adversity. Sir T explores how sacrifice, humility and acts of goodwill can create waves of change in one’s neighbourhood.
This narrative-based piece is set against a background of contemporary social issues, namely the rising prevalence of Islamophobia. It comments on the power of mass media and its ability to provoke impulsive actions such as violence and fear against our neighbours.
The video tells a story of how all people can make life-changing decisions,
regardless of race, religion or socio-economic backgrounds.
The video is set in suburban Auckland City, but it’s a story for every
community.
Produced by New Zealand video agency Howl Creative, it was written and directed by Tom Levesque.
