The official NZ Music Month Summit last Saturday 28th May was an outstanding success with all master class sessions packed to capacity.
Presented by the NZ Music Managers’ Forum and the New Zealand Music Commission, the Official NZ Music Month Summit was an extremely informative day of seminars covering the ins and outs of the industry, delving deeper into management, labels, touring, radio and royalties.
Places for the annual event were completely booked weeks out from the Summit, with 135 lucky participants able to attend the five intimate master classes across the day. Having become a staple event in the NZ Music Month calendar, attendees found the networking opportunity to meet the best in the business and have their burning questions answered by the experts to be incredibly valuable.
Attending the seminars was a diverse group of engaged and interested artists, managers, and music fans, who absorbed the wealth of knowledge and experience from the industry specialists who between them were able to cover a broad range of topics. Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, commenting the Summit was "extremely thorough - well managed and organised” and “very insightful with heaps of useful information”.
NZ Music Managers Forum Chairperson, Teresa Patterson says “Running for over eight years, the Summit has become a definite highlight of NZ Music Month. Putting on a free event with such a high calibre of experienced speakers wouldn’t be possible without the support of our music industry, and we thank APRA AMCOS, Recorded Music NZ and NZ on Air for their generous support”
NZ Music Commission CEO Cath Anderson was also delighted with the day, saying “Year on year the NZ Music Month Summit exceeds expectations and this year was no exception with the event being over-subscribed very early on. We’re very grateful to all our speakers who volunteered their time and shared amazing insight into the music industry”.
