Round One of Coke Launchpad closed yesterday (Monday 5th July) at 5pm and the winners were announced last night live on The Edge. With over four and a half thousand votes cast on the cokefridge website the result was extremely close right up until the end.
The winners of the first round of Coke Launchpad 2004 are Beatrootz.
From Wellington, we introduce Beatrootz...
Beatrootz is a group of young men who are very passionate about their music. It consists of 4 members, Avina Kelekolio, Christopher Collins, Radly Uili and Damien Ekenasio. They have been friends since their childhood days, all sharing the same dream. Their dream is to have music be a full time career for them. Because of this, they are willing to do and sacrifice whatever it takes to get them there. For the past couple of years, Beatrootz have been busy doing gigs at local night clubs around Wellington, and also private functions such as birthdays or entertainment for work conferences. These young men are definitely determined, and have an immense desire to have their creations on radio one day. Beatrootz have been clearly blessed with a God given talent, and it is only a matter of time and hard work, until their dream will come true.
As winners of Coke Launchpad Beatrootz will receive a music video made by Satellite Media for their track No DJZ, this video will then be debuted on Coke New Releases (TV2 11am on Saturday) it will be playlisted on The Edge radio network. In addition Beatrootz will open a show at Edgefest 2005, feature in an article in the August/September issue of Rip It Up and appear live on Top Of The Pops.
There are three more rounds to come and Round Two of Coke Launchpad opens on 26th July 2004. For more details check out http://www.cokefridge.co.nz
