Illusive and Frontier Touring are thrilled to confirm that R&B
sensation and multi-award winning singer-songwriter Brian McKnight will
return to Australia and New Zealand this October with his full live band. Off
the back of two sold-out Australian tours in 2011 and 2013 where his
performances garnered rave reviews, Brian will be touring his ultimate classics
along with celebrating his new album Better (out now via Brian McKnight Music).
‘One of the
greatest singer-songwriters of our time’ – The AU Review
‘Brian McKnight
proves that everything develops better with time. Better is a refreshing
collection of soulful RnB grooves’ – Renowned for Sound
‘McKnight’s voice
is still smooth as silk. He is one of those musicians that only gets “better”
with age.’ – Digital Journal
Born in Buffalo, New York, McKnight was 19 when he signed his first record deal
with Mercury Records, releasing his self-titled album which features Top 20
single One Last Cry. Over the span of more
than two decades, Brian McKnight has sold over 30 million records worldwide.
This album was followed shortly thereafter by albums I Remember You (1995) and Anytime (1997), which collectively sold over two million copies in the US alone and
received a mountain of critical acclaim. In 1999, McKnight released Back at One, his
most successful album which went on to sell over three million copies in the US
alone. It featured the massive single Back at One which sat at #2 on the
Billboard chart for eight weeks. McKnight went on to sign with Motown Records,
releasing five albums, and now releases his new music independently through his
own label Brian McKnight Music.
In addition to 16 Grammy nominations, McKnight has been nominated for American
Music Awards and Soul Train Music Awards, and has also collaborated with the
likes of Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake and Australia’s very own Guy
Sebastian.
Bringing it back to basics, Better features all real instruments with zero auto tune - McKnight himself describing
it as “completely organic”. Inspired by his current relationship and finally
finding “the one”, the album is McKnight’s most advanced work to date.
Featuring songs like Uh Oh Feeling and Better, it is an authentic album
that serves as a reminder of how truly talented McKnight is.
Ticketholders should expect to hear McKnight’s smooth as silk vocals draped
over a mesmerizing display of incredible musicianship in a
multi-instrumentalist show. McKnight is able to play nine instruments,
including piano, guitar and bass, and is unafraid to dive into his 16-album
deep archive. Watch Brian’s stunning live performance of ‘One Last Cry’ here.
‘McKnight knew how
to give the crowd exactly what they wanted, even before his most universally
cherished numbers made their appearance.’ – The AU Review

Frontier Touring and Illusive Presents are excited to announce Drax Project will be supporting R&B sensation Brian McKnight and his full live band on both New Zealand concerts!
Drax Project began as the late night drums and sax busking duo of Jazz students Shaan Singh and Matt Beachen. Their pop, hip hop and classic R&B sessions on Courtney Place in Wellington would regularly evolve into impromptu street parties, with crowds of several hundred stopping to dance. Adding fellow music students Sam Thomson on bass and Ben O'Leary on guitar, they quickly moved from being a Wellington street favourite, to being one of the city's favourite club acts. This strong local buzz saw them offered sets at some of the major festivals and begin to tour the country.
Upon graduating in 2015, they signed to Universal Music Group, releasing their well-received first EP for the label 'T/W/OO' in April 2016. After spending the winter in the warmth of a studio, they released the new single 'Falling Out of Sight'. With several more singles scheduled, a major run of festivals and a summer tour all in the pipeline, you can expect to hear a lot more of Drax Project's R&B infused pop over the coming months. But first come and see them live when they open for Brian McKnight this October!
