They are undoubtedly one of
New Zealand’s most alluring live acts and this October Mice On Stilts will
delight fans with two shows in Auckland and Wellington.
The Auckland six-piece will play in their hometown at the famed Kings Arms Tavern on Friday October 7 and
Wellington’s iconic San
Francisco Bathhouse on Saturday October 8.
The gigs come in the thick of an exciting and busy year for Mice On Stilts, which
has seen the release of their critically-acclaimed debut full-length album Hope For A Mourning featuring new single, Orca (being released September 2). The band’s song The Hours was also
recently listed in the Top 20 songs up for the coveted APRA Silver Scroll
Award.
The atmospheric, beautifully melancholic - yet uplifting - sound of Mice On Stilts grew
from the band’s desire to make sense of their complex emotional landscapes.
They cut their teeth in Auckland’s bustling alternative music scene, growing a
loyal fan-base that flocked to the clubs and pubs of K Road for any chance to
catch the band in their natural setting.
Led by songwriter Benjamin Morley, Mice
On Stilts’ “bold and dark soundscapes” and their ability to
traverse the boundaries of genre, impressed critics and fans alike, and their
2013 debut EP An Ocean Held Me and 2016’s full-length album Hope For A Mourning were met with widespread praise.
Lauded for their technical skill and stirring presence, Mice On Stilts is a band that makes music, which demands to be witnessed in the flesh.
