Shakes are stoked to release a video to accompany the lead single from their EP of the same name; Strange Tides.
The Kiwi indie-rockers premiered the video yesterday with British newspaper The Independent, who describe the track as “hazy, summery rock with a splash of California sunshine”.
Directed by Olive Jaffares, the band filmed the video in the 16th Avenue Theatre in their hometown of Tauranga. Channelling the aesthetic of classic French films, the subtle narrative follows the story of the song about a person that you keep coming back to despite the relationship being on the rocks.
Strange Tides, the recently released EP from Shakes, is a collection of dancey rock ‘n roll tunes brimming with their trademark sharp lyricism and fuzzy guitar. The internet is buzzing along with the vibes of Shakes, with the song being featured on dozens of blogs and global Spotify playlists, accumulating over 250,000 streams since its release.
Strange Tides is available now.
