Breakout local pop group Openside have today announced their debut EP; Push Back, to be released September 16 via Warner Music NZ.
The six-song EP features the recent singles Branches and Letting It Out as well as four more hook-laden treats. Since it was released in July, Letting It Outdebuted at #1 on the New Zealand Viral 50 chart on Spotify, with the accompanying music video receiving over 70,000 views on YouTube.
"This EP is like an introduction to Openside – who we are and what we're about. We've pretty much been working on these songs since we got together so it's really exciting to finally be able to share them." – says vocalist, Possum Plows.
Push Back was recorded with Rich Bryan (Jupiter Project, Stan Walker) in Auckland, mixed by Billy Bush (The Naked & Famous, Tegan & Sara) in LA and mastered by Joe LaPorta at Sterling Sound in New York.
Openside have impressed many in a short time with their energetic sound and subversive lyrics. This polished Auckland four-piece are rapidly developing a devoted fan base with their strong pop sensibility and anchored punk aesthetic. In 2016 the band has been on the rise, having recently opened for Ladyhawke, Melanie Martinez and Twenty One Pilots as well as having a slot at Auckland City Limits.
