A ‘who’s who’ of music
right now has been announced in the second line-up for Bay Dreams 2017. The
one-day festival is one of the newest and most exciting events in the festive
calendar and is being held on January
2, 2017 at ASB
Bay Park Stadium – presented by two of New Zealand’s leading
entertainment companies, PATO Entertainment and Audiology.
The mighty
Shapeshifter will
headline the R18 festival. Considered one of the most influential live drum n
bass-dance acts in the world, the Kiwi festival favourites will unleash new
material from their highly anticipated sixth album
Stars, due for release
on November 4.
The rest of the second line-up reads like a map of the finest electronic music
from around the world. It includes British DJ and producer Skream, who is
promising everything from funk, to disco, to house and techno, as well as
Canadian electronic extraordinaire Ryan
Hemsworth, renowned for sampling the likes of Frank Ocean,
Grimes and Tinashe.
Australian beat-maker Kilter also returns to Kiwi shores for the Bay Dreams party.
Summer Thieves are
also in the mix, and as anyone who’s seen the Dunedin dynamos live can attest
to, these guys are next-level amazing. There’s also Herman Saiz, who
earned his reputation blending his Latin roots with provocative electronic
house/techno; Kiwi Hip-Hop sensation Rory
Noble who’s gone from making beats in his Palmerston North
bedroom to playing shows and festivals around the globe.
This second wave of acts joins an already epic line-up announced last month,
including the masters of psych, rock and reggae, Sticky Fingers;
legendary US hip-hop acts Grandmaster
Flash and Bizzy
Bone and Kiwi favourites
Katchafire,
Kora,
Concord Dawn and
Home Brew.
Ahead of the big day, Bay
Dreams will kick off with a warm-up party on January 1 featuring
The Upbeats feat. MC
Tiki Taane, The Peacekeepers, Average Rap Band and
Earth Tiger.
Another major drawcard is the inclusion of
Kings, who is without question one of the
hottest acts on the charts right now, thanks to smash hits like
Don’t Worry About It.
Watch this space for another headliner and more acts, still to be announced.
Bay Dreams made its debut earlier this year and looks set to live up to hype, which has
seen it labelled one of New Zealand’s hottest new summer festivals. With more
than 40 acts across four stages, organisers are promising bigger and better
production in 2017, so punters are guaranteed a mind-blowing experience to
remember.
Fifty per cent of the tickets have already been snapped up and it’s expected
there’ll be another rush following today’s second line-up announcement, so
those wanting to secure their place at the best New Year’s party around, will
need to get in fast.
Adding to the popularity of Bay
Dreams is the festival’s location at ASB Bay Park Stadium,
which is just a short drive from the bustling holiday spots of Mount Maunganui Beach and Papamoa Beach. Also
good news for those planning on settling in - there will be onsite camping for
two nights from January 1st.
