2016 Silver Scroll Awards Photo Gallery

11.10pm - Everyone is enjoying Thomas Oliver's speech with the history and inspiration behind the winning song If I Move to Mars, and he thanked Yoko Zuna and Bailey Wiley for their cover version as he proclaimed "that was fucking sick". Congratulations to all winners.
11pm - And the winner of the 2016 Silver Scroll Award is Thomas Oliver, who graciously accepts his award and quickly acknowledges the efforts of all at APRA for the wonderful evening celebrating Kiwi songwriting and not just the "now" music, Thomas also spoke warmly about how the night has been a warm celebration of our indigenous culture.
10.50pm - The last song If I Move to Mars is being introduced by Mr Campbell, a great song by Thomas Oliver and the cover version by Yoko Zuna featuring Bailey Wiley is bright and beautiful.
10.40pm - We are being treated to another wonderful reimagining of The Phonix Foundation's nominated song: Give Up Your Dreams.
10.20pm - The striking Rob Ruha has been deservedly awarded the Maioha award for his brilliant song Kariri.
10pm - The next song up for a Scroll is the superb The First Man by Tami Neilson, a beautiful tribute to "Dad" which has been reinterpreted in an amazing performance by Jocee Tuck and an ensemble of 8 musicians.
9.45pm - Awards have been presented to genuinely surprised artists Karl Steven for his music in the TV series 800 Words and Mahuia Bridgeman-Cooper & Tami Waipara's music in the feature film Mahana (The Patriarch).
9.20pm - After many extended heartfelt and richly deserved applauses for Moana Maniapoto we are introduced to the second Silver Scroll nominated song Dream by Lydia Cole with a stirring rendition of the song by Nadia Reid and Sam Taylor.
9pm - All present are being swept up with tonight's Hall of Fame inductee Moana Maniapoto and the celebration of Maori Pacific music and its popularity and acceptance that Moana admits was not present in the eighties.
8.50pm - Hall of Fame inductee Moana Maniapoto is talking beautifully about the honour of this special accolade, and we laughed hard when she declared that her family thought she was being abducted and being induced by the Silver Scrolls!
8.35pm - The all girl Courtney Hate are performing a wonderful version of nominee Street Chant's song Pedestrian Support League which in Mr Campbell's words was "bloody fantastic".
8.25pm - The Jubilation Choir fill the arena with live music and remind us why we're here. Followed by John Campbell introducing us to the special celebration that the Silver Scrolls are.
8.15pm - To the sound of last years' winner; Unknown Mortal Orchestra's Multi Love, the main show begins.
7.20pm - The APRA members are enjoying their dinner and the media photographers have reliably informed me that tables 1 through 7 are drinking twice as much as tables 8 through 12!
6.40pm - Chatting with Rob Ruha and Mana Whenua IHI, who are nominated for the Maioha award, they are really enjoying the recognition and they are looking forward to hearing their songs performed by the APRA orchestra.
6.20pm - Villainy are partaking in some photo booth fun amongst the pre-show drinks and nibbles.
5.50pm - The Phoenix Foundation are enjoying an extended photo session, and they do look very smart and talented, I must say.
5.30pm - The sun is out and so are the stars of New Zealand's song writing talent at Vector Arena tonight.
The 2016 APRA Silver Scroll Awards are taking place 8pm tonight (Thursday 29 September, 2016) at the Vector Arena in Auckland, and muzic.net.nz will have a live broadcast right here!
