Kings, the man responsible for one of the biggest songs of the year, Don’t Worry ‘Bout It, has today announced that his debut, self-titled EP, will release on November 25. The EP features Don’t Worry ‘Bout It, the new single What We Supposed To Do, along with four other tracks.
"Since being signed earlier this year my career has taken a huge, positive shift,” says Kings. “With this EP I really wanted to show off my production skills and writing range. The project was produced, written, mixed and mastered by me. It's a small journey that will take you from the beach, to the club, to the bedroom. A small taste of what’s to come."
This news comes at the same time as Kings has been announced as a nominee for ‘Breakthrough Artist of the Year’, ‘Single of the Year’ and ‘People’s Choice’ at the 2016 Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards – taking place on November 17.
‘Warner Music NZ are extremely proud of Kings and his nominations in this year’s Awards,’ says General Manager Phil Howling. ‘Acknowledging new artists and their achievements is fundamental to the future of our industry and the hopes and aspirations of many young artists who dream to emulate their success.’
In late 2015, whilst in Fiji, Kings shot an impromptu music video using nothing but his iPhone to accompany his yet to be released track Don’t Worry ‘Bout It. The song then grew from an underground fan base before skyrocketing to success. The track has since gone Gold, had over 2.5 million streams on Spotify and over 500,000 views on YouTube and to this day still remains the #1 track on the New Zealand singles and radio airplay charts.
This summer Kings will be hitting stages around Aotearoa with appearances at Bay Dreams and Homegrown, along with supporting TLC, Montell Jordan and 112.
