Jody Direen announces new album Shake Up!

04 November 2016 - 0 Comments

Jody Direen is proud to release her highly anticipated brand new album Shake Up through ABC Music/UMA. The multi award-winning Jody Direen has just wrapped a tour of Australia featuring 8 cities in 4 weeks and is ready to unleash her new album on 4th November.

Shake Up signals a new direction for singer-songwriter Jody Direen where she creatively expands the sound of her past work. Shake Up is bursting full of tracks influenced by 80’s and 90’s rock, mixed with popular club synths, banjo, and a range of massive country guitars. Shake Up showcases Jody’s talent for creating unique party anthems that are impossible not to move or sing to.

Lead single from the album Gimme The Beat has set the standard high for the album, effortlessly fusing a subtle country twang with magnetic pop and electronic sounds by layering club synths with banjo with her powerhouse vocals. Jody filmed a fun and upbeat music video for Gimme The Beat, matching the high-energy feel of the song. “Gimme The Beat is all about the party. The song is a celebration of music and how it makes people feel,” Jody explains.

Eager to make Shake Up her best work yet, Jody recruited the genius of award winning Australian producer Stuart Stuart (Analog Heart Records), who was instrumental in launching the careers of Australian sensations The Veronica’s and Sheppard. Jody and Stuart teamed up to produce Shake Up, a record that illustrates Jody’s passion for many genres of music. Jody also collaborated with a group of session musicians from Nashville, drawing on the inspiring experience to experiment with her sound while staying true to her Country roots.

Critically acclaimed Jody already has a number of music awards to her name, including being the winner of New Zealand’s 2015 CMANZ Female Artist of the Year Award, VAC Female Vocalist of the Year and NZCMA Best Album of the Year Finalist. Not only this, Jody has also received nominations for CMC awards and top 10 hits in Australia and NZ.

With Shake Up released, Jody will be heading out to play a number of exciting live shows, including Top Paddock Music Festival 2016 on December 31st to celebrate the New Year in Lake Hawea. Jody will also be joining Country music icon Leann Rimes on the Stampede Music Festival in March 2017 for a stellar live performance. For full show dates, please see below.
