After 5 successful years of hosting concerts and parties in his Christchurch home for friends and family, Gary Hendrikse decided that after the full scale refurbishment was complete, he would host public events serving the local community and at the same time helping out local musicians by ticketing the event and giving all of the proceeds to the performing artists.
For those that have never attended a House Concert, then you’re in for a treat. House Concerts are a means of presenting live music in an intimate atmosphere, free from the smoke, noise and late nights often associated with listening to live music in a bar. The performers are all top notch local and nationally known touring singer-songwriter/entertainers.
Performers love the House Concert concept because the guests are there to listen to the music and happy to meet, greet and chat to the performers after the show.
The hosts, Gary and Lorraine, don’t make any money from the shows since all ticket proceeds and donations go directly to the performer. Instead they do it for the love of the music and to support the performers.
Regular attendees receive a newsletter announcing the schedule via email and anyone who wants to support live music house concert venues like Radius Kink House can sign up by sending a note to [email protected]
The shows are warm and intimate, sometimes amplified, and allow for interaction between the crowd and the performer. Concerts start at 6.00 pm with up to three 45 minute sets of music and a refreshment break in between sets. Coffee, tea, finger food, cold non-alcoholic drinks, plates, napkins, etc are provided. Attendees are encouraged to bring a plate of finger-food and are welcome to bring their own beverages if they prefer something stronger.
Concert capacity is around 50 people with plenty of street parking space.
Do yourself a favour and attend a Radius Kink House Concert.
