Fresh off the back of her mesmerising live show
at Auckland’s REC on December 23rd, and a slickly performed live to air on
Radio NZ’s Music 101, Madeline North aka So Below now brings her enigmatic goth
pop styles to the Logan Campbell Centre stage, joining The Naked And Famous for
their Auckland show next month.
Bought to you by iHeartRadio, The Naked And Famous play the free gig to ticket
winners on January 10th as part of the international tour around the
group’s recently released third album, Simple Forms. Aaron Short and Jesse Wood
from The Naked And Famous will be doubling down on the live duties for the
night, also performing as part of the So Below line-up.
Setting 2017 off with a bang, this support announce wraps up an industrious
2016 which saw North release her self-titled EP in May to a #5 NZ iTunes chart
debut, plus top 30 placements for two tracks through Spotify Canada’s Viral
Chart and the influential HypeMachine Chart. Produced by NZers Aaron Short, Sam
McCarthy and Leroy Clampitt the debut EP also inspired a remixed version,
including reworks by Taste Nasa, XY&O, Mirror Manor and Luxley which
released in September 2016 to solid local student radio support.
North now releases her latest single Hard, earning the contagiously catchy
single rave reviews from local and international music press alike. With an add
to Spotify’s prestigious New Music Friday playlists in the USA and Canada, and
clocking in at over 146k streams and climbing, North’s track has also caught
the attention of US 80’s electro pop master Memoryy, who has lent his practiced
remix touch to Hard’s hook laden ear worm to create his own infectious,
synth-filled groove - further propelling So Below’s sound to a number 12 debut
on the Hype Machine remix charts.
Directed by Los Angeles based director Susie Francis, the video for Hard is
currently in post-production and is due to drop January 2017.
With support from notable sites such as i-D, V Magazine, Hilly Dilly, Neon
Gold, Sniffers, The Line of Best Fit and Huffington Post, So Below is lining up
to be the NZ artist to watch for 2017.
