Music News - NZ hip-hop group make Music Video in Tokyo with Yakuza and Go-Go Dancers

Mount Maunganui based Music Collective EarthTiger has just released a music video for their new song Slide, which follows a Robot for one last night of debauchery in Tokyo City.
The ambitious vision was created on a shoestring budget with funding from NZ On Air’s Making Tracks Scheme, utilising an international crew across New Zealand, Japan and Canada.
The song’s themes of defiance influenced the video’s concept - following the journey of a life-sized Robot with a raw sense of individuality, sexuality and rebellion. The Robot is homage to Japanese pop-culture of mechanised robots throughout anime and manga, a fascination ingrained in Japanese society.
EarthTiger travelled to Japan to oversee the video, meeting up with Vancouver-based New Zealand producers Tom Levesque and Eva Trebilco who directed, filmed and edited the video.
Tokyo-based Japanese talent was sourced, including Yakuza and Go-Go Dancers with the help of local knowledge and networks.
Filming took place across Tokyo including the hot spots of Shibuya, Shinjuku and the well-known surf beach of Kamakura.
