Talented New Zealand Hip Hop / Electronica rapper and producer Imagine This is kicking off 2017 with his fresh and uplifting new single No Other Way.
Imagine This is a rapper, songwriter and producer who effortlessly bridges the boundaries between hip-hop, trap, glitch, ghetto funk and house music. Funded by NZ On Air and with the beat co-produced by singer-songrwriter and rapper Kings, No Other Way is the first single off his latest EP and is due for release via DRM today, Tuesday 14th February.
By staying true to his creative song writing processes and incredible freestyle ability, Imagine This continues to blaze a highly productive musical trail, masterfully melding electronic melodies, stop-start beats and rap to create No Other Way.
Imagine This loves to pour his heart and soul into his work, and says “In composing the beat, I layered trap and hip hop over traditional sounds. I usually spend a long time listening to the beat before writing, to get a feel for the song and discover what emotion and thought it provokes. This time, a melody rose out of the instrumental and formed the basis for the chorus, sung by Cherie Mathieson.”
Explaining the lyrical content of No Other Way, Imagine This is candid, revealing “This is a song about life and love. The lyrics reflect a dissatisfaction with an old lifestyle I used to lead, full of parties and women, always being caught up in the moment, and eventually pushing through to something real.”
Hailing from Auckland, Imagine This continues to keep up a busy international touring presence and last year alone played to crowds in Hong Kong, China, Japan, Thailand, Cambodia, Germany, Paris and the U.K.
The steady touring and numerous collaborations with various other artists is testament to a highly creative and productive work ethic that is clearly serving Imagine This well.
Played on both underground and commercial radio stations, his features, singles and EPs have climbed Bestsellers and Popular Downloads charts around the world. He’s been charted by A-Trak and Diplo, added to the BBC Radio 1 regular playlist, and has had countless Number Ones on Juno Downloads.
He has also supported and opened locally for What So Not, Tigerlily, Yetzel, Jurassic 5, DMX, Yin Yang Twins, DJ Craze, De La Soul, Dead Presidents, Pharaohe Monch, Gramatix, The Upbeats, Brookes Brothers, Joker, Opiuo and many more.
So looking forward and with a new perspective on what life and love now mean to him, Imagine This says there is ‘No Other Way’ - “Live in the moment, but don’t forget love can be forever.”
