Shakes made waves in 2016 with the release of the toe-tapping single and EP Strange Tides, establishing their brand of beat-era bass lines, fuzzy guitars, classic rock 'n' roll drums.
Their brand-new follow up track, Waiting On A Feeling delivers all of that - and then some.
Singer/guitarist Alex Wildwood wrote, recorded & produced the song at his home studio in Mt Maunganui on New Zealand’s picturesque East Coast, with mastering completed by Brian Lucey (The Kills, Arctic Monkeys, Chet Faker) who also worked his mastering magic onStrange Tides.
The narrative of the song stems from Oscar Wilde’s quote “There are only two tragedies in life: one is not getting what you want, and the other is getting it” – and the feeling which accompanies both outcomes.
Sonically, Waiting On A Feelingfinds Shakes evolving & experimenting with new textures, creating a hybrid of hip-hop production mixed with their signature 70’s influenced sound.
