Music News - Introducing Sharnar McGlinchey

Introducing Sharnar McGlinchey

28 March 2017 - 0 Comments

There are many singers & musicians who aspire to great heights when first learning their craft, many who when growing up wished to shine like a star as they would sing in front of the mirror using a hairbrush as a microphone - Sharnar McGlinchey was one such a girl who has had a career in music firmly in her sights and never let go of her dreams, and now they are to become a reality, with the world ready to hear her.

Discovered from a video of her performing her own song at a high school event at the age of 15 in Auckland New Zealand, a meeting was arranged with Sharnar and her mother and the path to her career was set on course. From the outset, it was clear this girl not only had the talent, she also knew what she wanted, and that was to sing.

It wasn’t long before Sharnar seized the chance to make a real statement of intent – at the age of 16 she was invited to open for New Zealand iconic vocalist Hollie Smith on the Band Of Brothers Vol 1 album release tour, where Sharnar showed her real potential with fearless and stunning performances.

After working with several different producers & co-writers, Sharnar struck up a close working relationship with talented songwriter/producer M Basa who, she describes as “my best friend”. Their chemistry was immediate, and the music started to flow.

Her Father being Samoan and her Mother Irish, Sharnar has deep influences in her music from old school tunes that her parents would play on the stereo when she was growing up, influences that reflect in her song writing and smoky vocals, with her heartfelt lyrics and soulful grooves. Years of writing poetry and songs have produced a catalogue of work that has been patiently waiting to find its voice, a beautiful and powerful voice that Sharnar is about to show the world as she takes her first deep breath on the global stage with the release of her debut single Alive this Friday 31st March.
