The song Page of Pentacles has unleashed the wildness of dance floors the length of Aotearoa New Zealand, and now this pagan-folk-metal trio are crossing the Tasman to bring you their dark and focused narratives on a 10-date Australian tour.
Since late 2015 HEX have performed their sharp, anthemic songs throughout New Zealand, playing support for Acid King, The Kills, and most recently Dinosaur Jr. Their raw and fierce act, and their take on love, life, community and politics has seen them carving out a mode of connection outside of traditional rock n roll tropes.
HEX’s music has been described as “loci-metal” (Six Noises) and moves methodically between harmony and discord with tempo shifts and interweaving melodies devolving into psychedelic breakdowns before drawing together in resolve.
HEX’s debut EP Calling to the Universe (May 2016 - Southbound Records)received massive support from the Student Radio Network (bNet stations), with four of the five tracks entering the 95bFM Top Ten. In October 2016 they released The Moon - the debut single from their forthcoming album, accompanied by a slow and textured music video shot beside the Hutt river.
HEX will be playing 10 shows across
Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney from 17 - 29 April
