From their DIY headquarters on Waiheke, Oyawa send in their lead jammer Nikki Ngatai as Chica. Salatious and raunchy Chica leads us through the three minute roller derby flurry summoning the guides of Nico, 'Military Rap' Blondie and Elastica.
Chica is the first single from Oyawa's upcoming debut album and is a power up step from their 2016 alternative radio hit, Heads On Fire.
Chica is set for release in 2017’s NZ Music Month, May 19th.
Self released, written, designed and produced, the single will be accompanied buy a self made, fish net burn of a video on release day.
Subscribe to their You Tube channel for the first peek.
In celebration of the release, Oyawa will be playing two shows in Auckland:
Sat May 20th | Waiheke Island | The Batch Winery (Door sales only).
Fri May 26th | Auckland | Golden Dawn (Door sales only)
Oyawa is the creative collaboration of Nikki Ngatai, Miles Gillett and Brett Garrity. In spring 2016, Cliff Bateman (ex Wellington band - Short & Number 9) - jumped on board as second guitarist to strengthen the core. However, expect a guest or two on the dates listed above!
